Lenda Sherrell to Run for U.S. Congress
Lifelong Tennessean Pledges ‘Fresh Ideas’ for Working & Middle Class Families
MONTEAGLE, Tenn. -- Lenda Sherrell, a lifelong Tennessean and professional accountant by trade, announced she has filed paperwork to run for U.S. Congress in Tennessee’s 4th District.
Sherrell, who has met with families in nearly every county in the 4th Congressional District in recent weeks, said her campaign will prioritize solutions for expanding the middle class and the state economy, not partisan politics.
“I’m running for Congress because we need leaders with fresh ideas to get our state -- and our economy -- back on track,” Sherrell said. “People are frustrated because Washington isn’t working. Now more than ever, we need public servants to come together to fight for our communities -- to create good-paying jobs, improve education, and expand access to healthcare.”
As a Certified Public Accountant, Sherrell has been responsible for the management of millions of dollars. A critical piece of her career has been balancing budgets and she believes these skills can be applied in Congress if our elected representatives can stop fighting and work toward real, meaningful solutions that help Tennesseans.
“I have two adult children and four grandchildren, and I see the things they struggle with every day. People are concerned about whether or not their families will have the same opportunities the generations before them has had, such as a good-paying job and quality education,” Sherrell said. “They are concerned about whether Medicare and Social Security will be there for them when they retire; I share their concerns and believe that together we can come up with the right solutions to improve our communities and make our families more secure.”

• Lenda’s daughter lives with her family in Franklin, Tenn. and her son lives with his family in Chattanooga, Tenn.
• As a Certified Public Accountant, Lenda has been responsible for the professional management of millions of dollars.
• Born, raised and educated in Tennessee. The daughter of a rural letter carrier and a teacher, Lenda grew up in Pleasant Hill in Cumberland County and Sparta in White County.
Lenda attended Middle Tennessee State University thanks to Series E Savings Bonds that her parents provided and knows how important education is in developing and sustaining our local communities.
